Tell me a bit about standard anesthesia!

Anesthesia is offered in three levels, and a standard dentist would normally only concern him or herself with the first. Drs. Gottschalk and Lee, however, will teach you to work safely with all three, helping you to incorporate them into your practice.

Oral Sedation:

This is the standard sedation that most dentists provide; typically Novocain administered by pill, swab, or needle.

Intravenous Sedation:

Sedation administered through an IV can provide a much more pleasant and less painful dental visit. The patient is not fully asleep, but sedated enough to help them remain calm.

General Anesthesia:

This is the only option where the patient is completely asleep thought their dental work. This is the most comfortable alternative available for those who suffer from a dental phobia.

The option of general anesthesia for patients can increase their comfort level considerably!
