Dental Courses In Sedation
William Gottschalk, D.D.S. and Kenneth K. Lee, D.D.S. of the Solis
Surgical Arts Center are proud to offer dental courses in sedation
as well as a general anesthesia dental course for enhanced learning.
Adding the study of sedation dentistry to your repertoire may not only
draw in new patients, it will ensure a comfortable visit for returning
patients as well.
Our Dental Courses in Sedation Dentistry Cover:
There are three types of dental sedation techniques, which include:
- Oral Sedation:
- Most dentists only provide oral sedation - Novocain is administered
with a pill, swab, or needle. For many patients, this is a sufficient
pain reliever, and for those who are frustrated or nervous (showing
signs of dental phobia), may require higher doses.
- Intravenous Sedation:
- Administered through an I.V., sedation can provide a much more pleasant
and virtually painless dentist visit. A common misconception about intravenous
sedation is that the patient is asleep during their dental work. In
fact, the patient may feel "sedated" or "out of it," but he or she
is still awake.
- General Anesthesia:
- This is the only option where the patient is completely asleep thought
their dental work. Only a small (although growing) number of dentists
provide this alternative to their patients. For patients who suffer
from dental phobia or who have had bad experiences with dental care
in the past, general anesthesia may be the right choice for you!
