Anesthesia and Sedation Course Information

About Sedation

Anesthesia is helpful to patients and physicians alike. Not only can it help relax clients' nerves during their procedures, it can also allow for easier performance for dentists. When the patient is calm, more work can be completed, and both parties can be more comfortable.

There are three forms of sedation that Drs. Gottschalk and Lee provide training for. These include:

Oral sedation -

Providing a pill to patients can help them feel more relaxed, but will not put them completely "to sleep." Because the effects that this pill causes are mild, clients who are best-suited for a pill are those who are only slightly anxious.

IV (intravenous) sedation -

The fastest way to get sedative medication to a patient is through IV (intravenous) sedation. Courses taught by Drs. Gottschalk and Lee feature the different effects that this form of anesthesia offers.

General anesthesia -

Sometimes, putting patients to sleep is in their, and your, best interest. This can be done through IV or inhalant gasses. General anesthesia seminars provided by our dentists can help you get started.
